You can throw off extra volts in the simplest way - by soldering three diodes in succession. The voltage drop will be 0.7V x 3 = 2.1V. We take silicon diodes, since if we take germanium ones, the voltage drop will be only 0.2V per element. Do not forget about the permissible limit current of the diodes. It must be at least 0.5A, otherwise they may burn.


Another important point - you need to solder the diodes not only by turning off the laptop, but also by disconnecting the battery. The voltage on the USB connector can be maintained even when the system is turned off, and for some time after disconnecting the battery.


Diodes must be placed in an insulating tube so that they do not accidentally solder and short the power supply to motherboard.

Frequent malfunction of the radiator fan

In the first case, the fan can either not turn on at all, or simply not turn off. Despite the fact that there are only two problems, there are several reasons for their occurrence. You can check for yourself how efficient the fan is. To do this, just start the engine, without moving from the place.

  Wait a little while until the coolant warms to a temperature above optimal. When the temperature is sufficient, that is, it goes beyond the red line of the corresponding sensor, then the fan should turn on, which causes additional noise under the hood. But if the temperature arrow has already gone beyond the red mark, and the fan has not turned on, then immediately stop the engine, wait until it cools down, and then start searching for the causes of the breakdown.

To get started, look at the fan motor. To test, connect it directly to the battery, if the engine is a carburetor.  In cases with injection engines, the connector must be removed from the sensor, after which the fan should operate, and in emergency mode. If after connecting the fan does not turn on, you will have to buy a new one. But if he earned, then everything is fine with him, and you need to check not him, but, for example, a temperature sensor. Often, it is mounted in the radiator.

Disconnect it by unplugging the wires, and close it to each other. If at this moment the fan turns on, the sensor is broken and must be replaced. Check fan power wires for breaks. Be sure to inspect the fuse and the relay, which is responsible for the power supply to the fan.The fuse is responsible for sound signals, so to check its performance, just press the horn. Relay also need to check for sticking contacts. You should also check the operation of the device when voltage is applied to it. If the reaction is zero, then the relay needs to be changed. If you carefully inspect everything, you will surely determine what the problem is.

One of the possible reasons for the constant operation of the cooling fan may be sticking of the relay contacts in the position in which the voltage is applied to the electric motor. Another such situation is possible when the thermostat is jammed in the position that corresponds to the movement of the fluid in a small circle. But this is possible only if there is no separate temperature sensor in the car, which is responsible for bringing the fan into action.

Then the fluid overheats, the fan turns on, but the coolant does not flow into the radiator. Fluid temperature will remain high, although the fan will operate. Another thermostat can jam in the intermediate position, that is, the liquid will go to the radiator, but due to partial opening completely into the radiator does not fall, that is, it does not completely cool. Nevertheless, if the fan runs continuously, then it is not as scary as its non-functioning. Therefore, you need to know exactly what to do if a breakdown of the unit is detected.

How to troubleshoot a radiator fan

Before removing the fan, disconnect the ground terminal from the car battery along with all the wires that go to the fan.Only then can the fan be removed. In order not to break, and the cooling process proceeded more efficiently, experts recommend cleaning the fan from time to time, removing any contamination. For cleaning you need to use a brush.

If you have determined that the electric motor is broken, then you will have to buy a new device. If you are on the road, the engine temperature has become critical, and the radiator does not turn on, then first you need to stop the car, and then wait until the engine cools down. Then you can try the following:

1)   Gain speed more than 60 km / h, so the liquid will be cooled by oncoming air flows;

2)   Close the wires that go to the sensor to forcibly turn on the fan;

3)   Turn on the heating system of the car at full capacity, so some of the liquid heat will go to the salon.

It happens that the radiator fan turns on ahead of time. The temperature sensor is to blame. Often, he incorrectly determines the temperature, why not at the right time sends a signal to the fan.

  In this matter, you need to choose the right sensor. They are of two types - summer  and winter, moreover, their temperature conditions are different.  For example, the winter sensor will work later, and the summer one - earlier. If you choose the wrong device, then do not be surprised that the fan in your car will turn on either sooner or later than necessary. The sensor can work correctly, but the temperature range of the device is not suitable.

Download SpeedFan. Install it and run the speedfan.exe file. First, change the program language. Click the Configure button. In the window that opens, select the Options tab. Now in the item Language set the parameter Russian. Click OK.

Now re-open the main menu of the program. The central part of the window will show the status of the fans and the temperature of the devices to which they are attached. If the temperature of the equipment has exceeded the permissible rate, then the “fire” icon will be located next to its name.

Unscrew the screws that press the desired fan to the device. Disconnect the power from the fan by disconnecting the appropriate cable. Now soak a cotton pad in a weak alcohol solution and wipe the fan blades with it. If the cooler is too small, use cotton buds. Completely clean blades from dust.

Install the cooler in the socket and screw it. Assemble the laptop by firmly attaching the cables and tightening all the screws. Turn on your mobile computer. First you need to look for visible defects on the motherboard. Check all condensers for swelling. Basically, they become the cause of the inoperability of the motherboard. Unplug the power supply. Install the memory module in the first slot. Reconnect the unit to the network and start the computer in the same way as in the second paragraph. The speaker should emit a video card error. If there is a signal, the motherboard is operational.
